On February 27, 2020 the San Jose Envision Task Force voted to recommend converting the W. Capitol Expressway/Monterey Road Employment Growth Area to a Regional Transit Urban Village and adding a residential capacity of 700 residential dwelling units. This Capitol Caltrain Station Area is approximately 16 gross acres in close proximity to high-quality transit and large vacant parcels. The area is currently planned for employment growth as part of the W. Capitol Expressway/Monterey Road Employment Lands Growth Area and adding residential capacity would allow mixed-use development adjacent to a current regional rail transit station.
